Sunday!
Today our church family got to have one of our most favorite traditions reinstated! We had our fellowship lunch! I attend a small country church here in Arkansas and one of our favorite things to do is get together after worship and eat lunch! Everyone brings a dish or two or three of something wonderful and we have a pot luck.
Pot Luck Lunch
If you have never been fortunate enough to attend a pot luck at a small country church you may not know what you are missing! Not being able to have our fellowship lunch was a real blow to our congregation! We are a loving church renewed by being together in God’s house. It’s that much better when we can break bread with one another. And then there’s the food….
Oh my! The food! All sorts of casseroles, salads, meats and vegetables (most grown by the folks that prepared them). It was almost impossible to decide, but I did. Mom Anna’s chicken enchiladas, so good; Mrs Edna’s sauerkraut and weiners (if this isn’t there people might riot). Meatballs, lasagna and some black eyed peas! Ya’ll this might sound like a weird combination, I’ll grant you that, but every bite was a tasty morsel!
What did I bring you may ask…..I brought Funeral Potatoes, or as Honey likes to call them “Death Potatoes”! This is not something that I had ever made before but have had year after year at Christmas time. My sister-in-law Becky always makes them special for me because I love them so much. Little did I know what goes into making that dish…. Thanks for real Becky!
Desserts!
What about desserts you might be saying! I would never leave with talking about desserts! Let me just say that there was Coconut Cake made from scratch, Homemade Nanner Puddin, Peach Cobbler, 4 Layer Delight, Chocolate concoctions galore and more, including my humble Blackberry Cobbler (which is really more like a cake with blackberries throughout)! So many desserts so little time!
It was a wonderful day only made better by being joined by our grand daughter Joslyn! She stayed the weekend with us and we enjoyed every minute of that! She is a teenager so getting to spend time with her can be a challenge! We were glad to have the opportunity this weekend!
I guess that is all for this evening! I hope y’all had as wonderful a weekend as I did! See you soon! Jules
